I have sunk about 200 of these over the last few months. They should produce well over the spring and summer. Now I can get started on some spots for next winter!!!

We had a very few made of honey locust limbs; would guess they might last 15+ yrs underwater...

It varies. Between 1-3 around Cypress and I have some spots in open water that have up to 8.

whats the most common depth you drop them at? I plan on making something like that soon but have never put any out

Don't know about C.J. , but I fish a lake that has average depth of about 8'. I put most in 6 to 10' of water. I like to find isolated stump or no cover area on a depth contour or drop off. Another good spot is near spawning areas
and back up to 6 to 8' depth to catch fish stage'n and returning post spawn. Humps in open water with no structure can be dynomite also.

Pretty much what Nimrod said. Except my lake has a TON of Cypress trees that hold the majority of the fish during the summer months, so that's where I put most of them, in 6-8 FOW. I put the larger ones on the staging areas in open water, as mentioned, for pre/post spawners.

Large mud flats near deeper water with NO OTHER cover closer than say 2,000`..."sleeper" spot for crappies...15-20 fow, random group of 10. Worked last several yrs like GANG BUSTERS! Rarely fish that spot for obvious reasons...but when we DO...
