Bamboo, Cedar or PVC
If you were putting structure in a new boat slip, which would you use? Would you suspend it from the sides or sink it using concrete? The dock is in
12' to 15' of water. I have the option of putting structure in several nearby slips on the same dock. Would you bait up several slips or keep all of the structure concentrated in one place? Thanks for the input.

I see you're from OK. If you can find it, Osage Orange (bois d' arc as it's called) is probably better than all of them and it will last for years. After that, I'd use cedar, bamboo and pvc in that order. I'd also suspend it from ropes at different depths. Say the first bunch at 7' and then maybe the next at 12'. This gives the Crappie brush at any depth they want. I'd also brush as many other slips as possible as long as they are not next to each other. My father-in-law once had access to a marina on a lake in Texas and him and a buddy of his brushed about every 3rd slip that they could. Fishing was pretty sweet there!
If you use cedar, don't worry about the needles, it doesn't bother the crappie. Some will tell you to burn all the needles off or let them turn brown, but it doesn't matter. The ODWC uses green cedars for their attractors (and spider blocks made from plastic pipe) and you can start catching Crappie off of them within a week.

We also have had great success with the natural (Boo & Cedar) Brush Piles. We are just now getting into the PVC Piles. Like Don said, I think the harder woods will last longer. Cedar is good for a couple years, then the piles start getting smaller. But you just add to your piles every Christmas.

To me its pvc because it can hold alge and the alge will atract bait fish and will get crappie to stop by and hang around which is a plus if you putting it around deep water or drop off
