here in the henry, benton co bottoms river cane get 20+ feet tall..it just dont get as big as your wrist like bambo...and it grows much faster than cane

River Cane - Arundinaria gigantea. The only native bamboo in Tennessee, River Cane is somewhat woody, forming extensive stands by spreading rhizomes. It is good cover and food for wildlife. Do not confuse this with the Oriental bamboo, a non-native that is extremely aggressive!

Yeah, and it is illegal in parts of Kentucky to carry an ice cream cone in your pocket or beat your wife on Sunday.

Any lawyers on here know the law on this? If it is against the law to cut it do they have to see you cut it? Illegal to have in possession that you found laying on the side of the road? Is there a reward offered for illegal cane harvesters? Is there a crappie.com pool set up to pay our fines for creating wonderful fishing holes with cane? Anyone want to start a pool for those fines? Here in SC we got a few different kinds of Cane , one grows boths grows on river bottoms , BUT the other , the one that will grow to 20 foot plus will grow on a river bottom or on top of a hill and be just as happy either place , as i know of in SC neither is against the Law to harvest , AS someone else mentioned , in a few months you can see people cutting the Latter for sticking bean stalks & hauling them back home , We used to do it ourselfs till we Got a Shakesphere plant near us & now we have fiberglass bean sticks lol ,

I Wonder WHY Tenn Passed the Law agaisnt cutting such an invasive plant ?

how can they prove where it came from if they didn't see it cut?

seems like i opened up a can of worms...for the record...i think it is stupid..but there are alot of them stupid laws..i have cut a million miles of it..and will continue to cut it..and use it..and i will play dumb if i get caught..i only posted this cause i thought it was so stupid...not to cause a ruckus and get anyones feathers ruffeled...the twra officer that told me is a very good long time friend. he also thinks its stupid...but sweares it to be true..and if you want one even more stupid..hear this..it is illegal to knowingly and willfully kill a SNAKE in tennessee...but do you think the people that passed that bill would let one crawl up there bretches leg on a afternoon turkey hunt...uhh..doubt it
