Another big build/ pallet stakebeds

We are making more pallet stakebeds and a few leaners with old pallets. Cost is almost nothing. Just labor and little gas for hauling. We gather pallets for free around business that throw them away. Boards are picked up at a local mill scrap pile for free. The nails and use of a nail gun were donated by a friend. :D

we have built approx 600 of the basic same type. You could haul more to the lake if uprights are left off till you get to the lake. Of course we are 2 hours away. You may be 15 min. makes a difference. We used old concrete blocks to sink, ususaly had mortar left on them. out matts are 8x8, took 8 blocks to sink them. We slid the blocks over the uprights and the blocks rested on the bottom of the pallet with the upright holding in place.
Why do you want leaning pallets? you will stay hung up. you want a leaning pallet, just leave the blocks off one end. It will want to float an the other end will be on the bottom, i know from experience

PS we had a conveyor on the front of the work boat to slide these off in the water.

We live less than 5 minutes from the ramp and use an air nailer. The rocks jammed in corners sink them fine. We build leaners when low on boards from pallets that are in poor shape that won't hold long.These leaners are put out on our Catfish and Bass holes alot of the time. If you don't put a board to hold up one side they will settle to the bottom once water logged. We do them small enough to get several on a boat and add rocks from the banks.
Pefer to build low stakes to make harder for most depth finders to see. Besides our water depth is average of 8'. I place them no more than 10' deep. Have a few in less than 3' of water in back of pockets where boats have troube getting in low pool. Lake level is regularly held up atleast 3' in the spring here.

Those look great.... lots of work there but there will be tons of crappie caught of all of that.....
Bout 50 of those would work great in Navarro Mills Lake in Navarro County, Texas.....:D:o

Great job! I have 1 suggestion, remove some of the boards from the pallet and use them for upright. The only other idea would be to give me the gps #'s

pallets are very hard to deal with I prefer to put stakes in a small concrete pan and sink . with 5 stakes per pan you get 4 pans per 60 lb bag of concrete and sink at least four in a spot

Sometimes we do. But the Pallets are solid on top , only a few boards on bottom. We sink pallet upside down. The Crappie then have a hard surface over the mud to spawn next spring.

The pallets make lots more habitat and cheaper. Pallets are easier for us , maybe a problem for those with a small boat. Unlike concreted condos we can build and sink with no waiting.
