    Default What if

Everyone is talking about how much weight it takes to sink boo. What if you drill a hole at the top and bottom of each of the lower chambers so there will not be any air pockets? Leave the uper section along. I think this will reduce the amount of weight needed and help it stay upright. I've not tried this yet, but think it will work.

A stalk of bamboo is segmented in 6" sections. Each section is sealed. You would have to drill a hole in each section and it would reduce the strenght of the bamboo, so it would not last as long under water.

The bamboo sinks just fine with enough weight, I don't know just what that ratio is but I sink mine with just gravel and rocks in the bucketts, you do need to lock the boo in the buckett some way or it will float out, that is why I use a certain amount of gravel in the lower half of the buckett. I think it is important that the upper parts of the bamboo have those air pocketts so it stands up and takes on a vase like appearance. I agree with Spiderman that drilling all those holes would speed up the decomposing process.
