My grandmother always made what she called freezer slaw that we ate with our crappie, hushpuppies and fried taters. I would love to get a recipe for it and instructions on how to prep it for storage. If anyone out there knows what i am talking about I would love to get your input. I have not had any of it in over 20 years and I would love to have some with a big plate of fried crappie and/or bluegills. What ever I can get, ya'll know what I am talking about with the fish :D . Anyway, I would truly appreciate it if anyone can help me out with that.
Thanks,
Dave

I like to add a little onion to mine too.
Crappie fishing is my lighthouse of sanity in an insane world,
It keeps me from crashing on the rocky shores of everyday life.
Crappie.com is my beacon of light!
Ingredients and Directions
1 Head of cabbage
1 Carrot
1 Green pepper
1 Onion, chopped
1 ts Salt
1 c Vinegar
1 c Sugar
1 ts Celery seed
1 ts Dry mustard
Chop up cabbage, carrot, pepper, onion and add salt. Let stand 1 hour. Boil together vinegar, sugar, celery seed and mustard. Cool and pour over slaw. Put in containers and freeze .
That is the same thing that my great aunt called wilted slaw. The only difference is that I have never frozen mine. It sure is some good eating. I have not made it in years because my wife does not like it. Getting ready to have a big fish fry so I might have to make a batch.
To make life enjoyable, you must have crappie days.
