I used a bag of the little honey gold potatoes and a bag of baby reds. I boiled until tender, mashed, added sour cream, bacon bit, and a bit of heavy whipping cream, shredded cheese. Mix together thoroughly, place in dish of choice, bake or grill around 350 until it is set and the peaks have gotten golden.

You've got me looking at grills Jack. I have a TEC one of the finest steak grills made but too hot for anything else. They have been redesigned now but I have the old style. TEC makes the equipment for Ruth's Chris Steakhouses. Theirs broil where ours cooks from underneath, still infrared.
I have a searing burner on the side of this grill. It will have a steak frying in it's own fat in a minute or two each side. Hard to beat high temps on a steak. Every thing else a more conservative approach is best.
