caught some crappie at dale hollow and didn't have any oil or butter to cook in, looked around the fridge at what we brought and found some ham stakes cooked them first on the grill for some grease and then covered the crappie with them while they cooked, cut up some of the ham and mixed it with the crappie, was some of the best crappie we ever ate.
Good idea, We like anything cooked in Pork fat. I love to render out smoked Hog Jowls for the grease to fry taters and onions.
