    Default Old bay seasoning


    I know this has been posted before,I want to try the old bay seasoning but need to know a good % of mix of cornmeal,flour and old bay for breading crappies.All I can find is people using it but not a detailed post,Any and all opinions will be greatly appreciated,,Thanks,,HillBilly

    It really depends on your taste preference. I can say that when you put it in the breading and fry up fish it loses some of the flavor that it would have if you were just sprinkling it on boiled shrimp etc. So if you like really powerful flavor put a lot in enough where you can see a decent amount of color change in the cornmeal flour mix.

    As far as a cornmeal flour mix that also depends on how fine your cornmeal is the finer it is the less flour you need. If your cornmeal has alot of big pieces in it it wont stick to the fish as well hence the flour.

    I generally season my filets before breading/flouring them. This ensures a good season base dierctly on the fish.
