How do you catch the skip jack?
We like to go below Barkley Dam on the Cumberland River in April and May. We fish off the bank and use 1/16oz curly tail jigs. Usually will use two jigs about 18" apart. The jig colors I like to use are white, chartreuse and black. The main line is 10 lb test and the leader is 20 lb, any less and the fish break me off too much. There are many places to catch skipjack in Western Ky. but Barkley Dam is my favorite place to fish for them, good luck.
