time of year for channel cats?
My dad and I used to go to Watts Bar for a camping and catfishing trip every year, we would anchor on a rocky point right on the main channel, at the mouth of a big cove, and catch channels maybe 7-8' deep with nightcrawlers. I want to go back there but I can't remember what time of year it was. It was fairly early in the year, maybe around this time, but I remember it was hot by then because I would always get sunburned and we would go back to the campsite in the middle of the day to get out of the heat. I have been trying to find similar areas on Melton Hill since it such a short drive. I have caught one here and one there, but never more than one at any single spot, we used to stay at that one spot all day and catch them in the 2-4 pound range, perfect for eating. Anybody have any thoughts if it's still to early or when is the best time? Thanks for any help! I'd like to take my wife and son there to try it out, it was some of my best fishing memories.
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.
