Default KY Lake trip May4-10 Looking for Advice

Me and the better half go down every May to fish a week in my favorite place, Ky Lake around Moors and Big Bear. We started off with Bluegill and Redear with a little Crappie fishing thrown in. But now we want to take a day or 2 and go for catfish and maybe catch some bigger fish +10#. We catch enough eating size channel cats fishing the shallows for panfish. Just wondering if the area around Birmingham point has some bigger cats in the deeper waters. Planning to CAR any fish above 10# but would love to tussle with a few. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

I would head below the dam and catch some skipjacks first, then drift fish the current seams for blue cats. can't help ya for fishing up in the lake, never done that.

Yeah I will bring some Skips down from home. 2mi from the Ohio. Since this is primarily a panfish trip I am hoping to find a few one day along deeper channels or in some structure in deep holes. Thanks for the tip.

when i want bigger cats i use live bait. 3-5" gills most of the time but watch the regs down there on that. if it rains set up in front of a feeder creek and you will find what your looking for. dont be afraid to fish shallow either!

    good luck to ya.
