Took an evening catfish trip with my son last night on Canoe Creek here in Florida, I leave for Ga. today and him being a deputy he has a weird schedule so we go when we can. Got on the water around 6:30, set up and fishing by 7.
By 7:30 we knew it was going to be a fun night. Using Chicken Liver we each had 3 poles out. I had one pole with a float holding the bait at about 5 foot, all others were on the bottom.
In the first few hours it was common to have 2, even 3 cats on at a time. Ended up with 10 Channel Cats, largest about 5 pounds, 5 Yellow Bull head, 2 Gar, and while the baits were sitting I was casting a 10 inch worm for bass and got 2. Fish were nice and clean and a ton of fun catching, Esp. on the 2 ultra lite rods. You have not had fun till you fight a 3-5 pound cat on a 4' UL spinning reel with 4 pound line.
Congrats on a great evening!
Sounds like fun to me. Sometimes we get bored catching so many Channels over bait spots, we use our jig poles to make it tougher.
