    Will I need a three bank charger to add another battery to my 12 volt system to get more run time ? I have a 212 precision charger from minn kota .

    Not as long as you keep them all wired for straight 12. I only run one leg for the 2 battery's I have hooked to my 12 volt terrova. And I have to run it real hard for a long time pulling to get them down where it won't charge back by the next day. That's with 5 amps.

    does it matter if you connect the positive/negative to same battery or one on each battery ?

    You will be running in parallel to keep 12v. So you would essentially be connecting to the one battery to keep it simple.

    Like Josh said, keep simple as possible for you to connect. Just one big 12 volt battery. Charger knows no different.
