Painted jigs are a distraction from the main lure whether soft plastic, fir, feather, etc. Color theory falls short when fish are caught using many colors on the same outing and catching a bunch. Unpainted are fine with me but I sure like a Hot Pink too. Really helps my old eyes track where I'm pitching to.
I used no paint for years. I only started painting when I traded jigs for a slip in a marina. Now it’s just a habit.
I like a bright Chartreuse and also a hot pink. But I'll tye on a plain Jane head just the same.

Been poured/painting heads for about 25 years. The most popular is sales has been: chartreuse, b. Orange, red, pink, black, and white. Just started painting the disco colors and really like them…….
Different sizes to me is more important than various colors . I carry orange , white, red, black, chartreuse and pink . I carry each color in 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 .Also carry pink in 1/4 . Clear water go small , dirty go big . JMO.
I changed my mind,,, I like disco colors that are shiney
Chartreuse, white, black, silver, gold, blue, orange, green, gray, pink and purple.

I've just started using fingernail polish to paint plain jig heads but not sure why. I've got a lot of fish on plain heads. As far as plastic goes, actually doesn't seem to matter a lot to me. I have an idea what they see is movement of a small object and hit it.Quote:
