Thank you all again for the replies. Between work and the rain I wasn't able to get out until this morning.
My form was off for sure and I am casting a little farther now but not much. A guy at the lake this morning pretty much said what you guys are telling me, that I need more line on the spool. The reel is rated for 110y of 4lb mono, not sure why that is not enough once it is put on?
There is also a light sticking point when casting where it seems like the line is getting stuck on edge of the spool.
Attached is a photo of the reel and line.

Looks like it needs more line you can use what ever extra line you have 6 to 10 lb and spool it on first this does two things 1 it will fill the spool out and 2 when you need new line it will save your cost of more. Line

Ps get like 0000 steel wool and like toothpaste and see if u can get the rough spot off of the spool or get line and reel spray BPS has it and spray it on the spool and line will not hurt strikes

You need way more line than that, use a double uni knot, and add more until it is about nickel thickness from the edge of the spool.

i have several BPS micro lite rods, 7' to 9'6". I think all of them are med. lite action except for a couple. I cast 1/16 oz with 4 lb. test just fine with them.
