help Needed for fall: shallow lake jigging
Hey guys! Hope you guys can help me out on fall fishing for crappies.
Just a bit of background info, I do kayak fishing and i fish all over south jersey lakes.
This summer i have been doing great. i mean really great! 1/16 oz jighead and small grubtails 2 inches and i get slabs monsters. the lake is 3 ft max, have some pads , 2 creeks that feeds it. there is a section that got lay downs. i fish mainly by lily pads that near the channel and produce really REALLY well. i mean so well, over 50 fish in one session! check out this video. (apologize for the wind noise)
I got several more videos from this summer and i did super well. but....
Here is my problem:
It is now fall, water is clear now and I can't seem to find them O_o! water temp is 70 to 75 degrees, i will hook maybe 1 or 2 all day. i end up twice putting my light jigs away and go with big baits for bass fishing. I went out today (new lake) and was able to pull only 2 out in a drop off into creek channel. i spent 1 hour going up and down this channel and no luck, got a few yellow perch and a dinky bass.
One thing i have noticed is that we got these clumps of black algae that is all over the place right now. i tried fishing them but every cast returns black algae. it's so bad that it reminds me of the movie "Ring" with the black hair.. super horror movie!
anyway, i started to map this lake so i'll probably be able to get a full depth map if u need visuals.
thx all!
