Glad you got the answer I would have guessed first . Bream and such do rapidly peck jigs or even minnows .

The little things are important. I wash my hands & use a good crappie attractant rubbed on them. Short hits can make t hard to stick fish. Always use nibbles when this happens. when you let your line fall, try to use your rod down but keep the line tight so you an see or feel a hit.
