What would you have done......
I wanted opinions on a situation i was in a few days ago.
I was fishing a spot i have only fished a few times before along an old rock dam. It was the old lake dam before the new lake was flooded.
I was throwing a bandit 300 to the shore, i was about 30ft off the bank in 18fow over some brush. I would get as close to the bank as possible and pull it hard to get it down into the rocks then slow down and steady back to the boat. Hooked into 2 crappie to my amazement about half way through my retrieve. then after a bit of no action threw a pink and chartreuse road runner in the same direction and got another one in about the same spot. Tried several colors and the bandit again but no action. All within about 7-8 am. No more crappie after that and i drifted on down the dam. A couple boaters moved in to the same spot, i kind of watched but didn't see any catches and they moved off pretty quick. Gave it another go on my way out but just a couple non-crappie fish so gave up.
My question is what would you have done? I don't have alot of brush/cover marked and usually the wind dictates where i can fish. I know alot of people move around alot. Do you usually get a few fish at a time at each brush pile, it seems like there was probably still crappie there so maybe they just stopped biting?
Just looking for ideas for the next time.
Thanks and i appreciate any comments
