    Default Fun River Smallie

Well not a crappie but at least its worthy of posting. Caught this monster on the Fox River in IL this afternoon. 16 1/2" long, estimated to be in the 3 - 3 1/2 lb range (he was rather thick). Put up a huge fight. Caught him from the shore using a double rig with a white Berkley Havoc Grass Pig Jr body. He actually broke off one of the jigs on his initial hit and came back around to hit the other one.

Caught 3 others afterwards on the remaining jig I had on me before I packed it in for the day. All told I landed 5 smallies in about an hour, smallest two were 12". All were released to fight another day.

Niiiiiice. Definitely one of my favorite targets, river smallies. Once they hit that 16 - 17 inch and up range, they begin to get pretty stout. That's a real nice one there. Great job.
It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D
