    Default Reports on Lake Hamilton?

I am new to this crappie fishing? Just purchased a crappie boat. Looking for some crappie in the Little Mazarn area. Tried jigs in this area and No Luck caught a few black bass and some white's. Thanks for any info.

I haven't fished for crappie at Hamilton this year but spoke to a land owner last sunday. He had just come off the water and had no luck. Water was low 60's and fishing should get better there soon. Let me know how you do.

Lake Hamilton seems to take a little while to settle down after the fill up. There are some good crappie to be had but they seem to be scattered right now.

I went to Hamilton Sunday and it was on! The spawn is over and the fish are back in the deeper brush piles where they belong. The water temp is 73.5 to 74.2. I caught some on grubs and some on minnow rigs. 21 total with most of them being about 11 inches and 6 around 15 inches. Right now you need to look along the edges of the creeks for brush piles and put a minnow in them. I'm fishin between 8' and 17' and catching fish, when everything is right. Try the Tennessee Shad color grubs and use the larger crappie minnows. You might even try some bass minnows. There are crappie in the little mazarn, that is one of my favorite places to fish. Hope the info helps.

    Purpleworm,

I would suggest getting the Hamilton map at Trader Bill's. It shows a bunch of brush pile locations and that could make your trip worthwhile.

I don't fish Hamilton, prefering the solitude of Ouachita. From the sound of Razorback33's report, Hamilton is ahead of Ouachita by a few weeks. I was on Ouachita yesterday and did find some 70 degree water. I belive the blacks have spawned out but the five big mommas I caught were all white crappie and all still had their eggs.

That makes me think they'll be on the beds for the next 10-14 days.

Some day, I may try to learn a little about Hamilton and Catherine. Have a good, safe trip.

There are 20 or more of our bamboo crappie condos throughout Little Mazarn. Find them and you'll catch crappie. Hovering over the cover and fishing vertical is the ticket.
