    Default Old River yesterday

Went to Old River yesterday with the wife. We caught 6 total fish, 5 were crappie between 9.5 and 11 inches, and 1 unknown sunfish. We missed probably 8-10 more bites. All caught on minnows set at 18" deep in 3-6 fow. All fish were empty, no eggs or milt. Going back tomorrow for some more action. Sorry no pics, not an impressive enough catch for that.

Thanks for the report. Hope y'all do even better tomorrow...And, don't forget to give the deep water a try. If the majority are finished spawning, the big females will load up deep in the channel and gorge on shad to recoupe energy stores.

I have got to remmeber that, i usually get frustrated and forget to try deeper. But the channel runs about 8-10 feet deep, not too far from where we caught those yesterday.

Went back to Old River on Friday around 11:00am. The wind was awful, was thinking I wasn't going to be able to hold the boat still, but managed somehow. We fished for 4 1/2 hours and had 7 keeps and 3 dinks. That is much better than the others who were there at daylight had done in the same amount of time.

I had commented that the fish were empty, but I had a few of the females still had immature eggs in them, so maybe I've still got time for them in the brush

My budy's ramp is actually his back yard, and it is VERY muddy right now, so i do not even ask when the rain won't stop falling, but am itching to get back out there soon.

well the river on this end is huge but the only thing good about it is that my buddys are going out in his flooded bean/corn feilds and catching a lot of catfish
