Default Took the wife to Darbonne today...

We had a pretty good day. I don't have any idea how many we caught in all but we kept 49 Crappie and 4 Catfish. Most of the Crappie we kept were on the small side but still good enough to filet....we only had 10 that could be called slabs. But was a very good day and relaxing. Caught most of the Crappie on a Bobby Garland baby shad in the "Baby Bass" color. Fished in 15-25 FOW and caught them from 2-10 ft deep.

She was trying to Bill!! I had four rods hanging out the back of the boat for her to fish and at one point she had crappie on two different rods at the same time plus one of her other rods hung up on a submerged stump. She had a rod with a crappie on it in each hand! I couldn't help her right then cause I was landing one myself in the front of the boat. Needless to say she had her hands full.....I was wishing I had a picture of that. It was a fun day and I tried to just have fun and not get too serious about the fishing! We got the boat on the trailer about 15 minutes before a really really bad thunderstorm hit......I guess I was lucky the wife was buggin me to go (but it was only 6:00with an hour of daylight left!). I had been saying "just one more fish" for the last 5 or 6 that we had caught and she just wouldn't let up so I finally gave in and headed back to the ramp. If I had been by myself I would have probably got caught in that thunderstorm while still on the water.

Good deal, Steve...Coulda been bad but you made it through by listening to your significant other. It's fun days like this one that make it worthwhile! (not to mention some fabulous table fare later) I guess they've spawned out?

Absolutely, Bill. The spawn is history on Darbonne for sure.
