Me and a buddy from work fished Conway Saturday. We launched at 6:00 AM from Lawrence landing. Went straight out to the live Cypress trees and fished the trees at 6 ft. deep. Picked up 1 crappie quickly, then nothing for the next couple hours. The wind was kicking us around pretty bad, so we moved to the Cypress forest that's located East/Northeast of Gold Creek. That's the most beautiful part of Lake Conway I've ever been to. It looks awesome for holding crappie. We fished the rest of the day and only caught 2 more and finally gave up at 6:00 PM.
We were primiarily using rosie minnows. We varied the depth from 6' to 5' to 4' then back to 6'. With our jig poles, we tightlined, then used slip bobbers, then went back to tightlining. Funny thing, the 2 fish we caught here were in open water areas and not up close to the trees. This might be just a coincidence, though.
It looked to me to be a perfect day to catch fish. Mostly cloudy, warm south wind, light sprinkles of rain. Just boggles my mind we didn't do better than we did.
All in all, we had a great day being on the water. It would have been a bonus to catch fish. I'm pretty used to not catching fish, though.
BTW, this is my first post on this forum. I've just been sitting back and reading for the past 2 months trying to learn...

It's amazing they
Shimmy I also do this to find them there are many stands of live Cypress on Conway. I keep going to different ones until I find them. Also remember you got Cebs deep hole off of Gold Point. If you like to nite fish try under the Hiway 89 bridge with lanturns tightline minnows or try setting some yo-yos at nite should increase your catches. Hope this helps and Never Give UP!
