Headed out to Conway this morning. Didn't even head in the direction of the pool, but straight to the living cypress out in the main lake. Gave tightlining jigs a good 45 minute try and then moved on without any crappie. Figured that I would go try the deeper water off gold point on Dano's suggestion this morning. Fish were loaded up in the bottom of the hole and biting jigs and rosies. They seem to like just about every color slab buster's jigs that I had, but they might've preferred blue/chart and electric chicken a little more. Ended up with 18 crappie and 6 fat white bass. Most of the crappie were about 12" average size, with 4 or 5 of 'em being a little better...:D The vast majority of the action was between 9am and noon, on the bottom in that deep hole. Also caught a nice sunburn...it was hot on the water even with the stiff breeze. If anyone wants a good map of where exactly I was fishing...you can shoot me a PM. And I finally took a few pics for once...
It felt almost like June out there today...
Lots of activity on the DF...
The electric chicken (or maybe it's the reverse)...all's I know is that them crappie liked it...
Found about 2 of these guys for every keeper...
Dan was kind enough to shoot a pic back at the ramp...

WTG Ceb, I thought you might find a deep water bite somewhere. I know right where that spot is and it's a good one. I had no idea they were stacking up in there like that, i'll keep a closer eye on it now LOL. Dano gives out some great tips. That first pic you took of the lake. I live just around that little point of trees on the left. Sry my tree bite did'nt work out for ya, but you found them anyway and im glad you had a great day on the water. Oh ya one more thing, stop fishing those nursery ponds. JK CP

Good catch and pics...Thanks
That has been a productive Summer time hole for me. I have been wanting to place some of my own brush in it.
I have mentioned this before, but, every time I pass through there, I am reminded of the fight I saw on the tree line just to the left of your first picture. A fellow was catching crappie tied up to a tree. He left and a couple of guys pulled up to his spot, and started catching fish too. I was working the other side of the channel when all of a sudden I heard the worst cuss fight I had ever heard. The first guy returned from a rest room run and was not happy to see the two fishing his spot. Now he was a bit older than the two and just about the time I thought I would need to come to his rescue, he whacked both of them a couple of times each with his rod then left. It was the funniest thing I had ever seen. When the two realized what had just happened, I heard one of them say we need to catch him and whip his old keester. I was still laughing and told them they had better leave the old man alone before he hurts them.
