    Default Greer's Ferry 3-26-09

I managed to finally get out on Greer's today. It was good to be able to get back out. After reading every ones reports lately I was sure ready. Launched the boat at 10:00 at Choctaw. Decided to start out working the bank across from the ramp where crappiepro posted about catching some. (thanks cp) I never left the area and had the boat pulled out with a limit at 2:00. I caught them on a 1/16 chartreuse roadrunner head with either a chartreuse or yellow 2" solid jig body. I was throwing at the brush on the steep banks and they would nail it about 10ft out from the brush where it dropped into 15 ft. of water. Nothing huge, the biggest was 2.2 lb. but all nice fish. 5 females and 15 males. Picked up the Eye for my bonus and thew back several bass. water temp. was 56-58.

Wow thats a good day of fishing, glad you were able to get back after them. Casting a roadrunner is my favorite way to fish for crappie, I'll have to give it a try this weekend.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Darn!! I wish I wuda known. I was at Lobo Landing yesterday and today. Crappie bite had to be better than the trout, they were slow. Took my wife and daughter down for trout fishing and only caught 8 on the Little Red. Mentioned a crappie trip to Greeson or Beaver but the ladies didnt think they ould take a whole day in the boat with bathroom breaks and all. My daughter decided she likes the crappie fishing still the best after this slow trout trip! I did manage a 17 inch Brown but wuda gladly traded for six good crappie! Ohh well it was a nice family getaway and the lodging was really nice at Lobo! Nice mess of Crappie!
Was that a bite? Forgot what they feel like!

Glad to hear you are well and Back On The Water C&B. When I made that Choctaw report, I was thinking about ya and hoping you could give that area a try. It's always the first place I try when I fish out of Choctaw and has put allot of good fish in the boat over the years for me, for some reason and I don't know why, it always seems to hold some good fish along that bank all through the year. Im a little jealous you got that eye as a bonus, thats some sweet meat. God Bless and see ya on the water. CrappiePro
