    Default slow trolling advice

I am looking for some help on the subject of long trolling. It seems that at one time I saw a chart that showed if you were fishing a certain weight jig a certain distance from the boat and was using "x" weight line your jig was be at "X" depth. Can anyone help me on this one?

Don't have one for jigs, but wish I did. The only one that I've copied off this website is the charts for 100s, 200s, and 300s bandits. Might want to post this on the main board, so that you can get more opinions.

There's a book with charts on a # of crank baits, but I don't know of anything on jigs. I can't remember the name of the book, but it has been mentioned and discussed on a # of threads here.

I have never seen a chart. But here are a few things that I do that have worked over the years. Longlineing is nothing but a controlled drift. Speed is the key and something that you will have to experiment with. Common speeds are 0.5 to 0.8. I put two jigs on each line. A 1/16 or 1/8 on first and then a 1/32 on the end about 2 feet apart. The lighter jig will ride up behind the front jig. Distance of line behind the boat? One cast length somewhere between 40 to 60 feet. Most of the time with this setup I am fishing in 12 to 20 feet of water. The jigs will run 6 to 10 feet depending on the speed. Remember speed is the key.
