Just wanted everyone to know, (02/07/09), this place was elbow-to-elbow on the dock pulling in 12"-16" Black slabs.
Went back the next morning, Sunday (02/08/09) 6:30am, thinking that I can beat everyone but to no avail. So I launch my boat, caught a few small ones, however fishing was slow on the dock so I left for Pickthorne and caught 10 trolling with minnows each at 12"-14".
Looks like I'll be headed to Gold Creek this coming weekend if the Crappie hold out.
Thanks for the report.
Been catchin them there for a while now..Know all bout the crowds. I try to go on rainy weather or bad weather , less crowds. There is a few guys out there that will justthrow over you ,not all but theres a couple. Those usually are the ones that never do really get them. Its such a small spot. Whatever happened to ettiquette or just plain courteousy? Also i saw a few nice redears caught there recently so i guess they come in there too.
I'll be out there again too! Might I ask what is the preferred bait? Minnows or Jigs (color, size, w/cork, etc.?)
Well the jig I have been using is a 1/32 OUNCE jig chartreuse. Two feet under a cork. Give long pauses in between pops of the cork. Most guys put too much action to their cork and jig, let it sit. That is what drives them nuts. Especially this time of year. Good luck and save a few for me.
