It's a ramp and that's about it. There is a store there but last I knew, it was unrelated to the ramp. It is a FREE ramp.

As someone said there are probably 6 or 8 "A" frame cabins that are nice. But you wil get off cheaper by going to Ashdown and getting a motel there. They aren't fancy, but they're not shabby either...just a decent place to sleep.

Another place to put in is Jack's Isle. If you put in there, there is a minimal launch fee. But you can get the straight skinny on the crappie from the owner, Kenneth. (It's worth the $3.00.) He also runs a bait shop and a small marina (no gas) with about 20 or so slips. You can rent boats there if you don't want to drag yours.

If you do decide to rent, better call Kenneth and reserve one or get there dang early or you'll liable to be bank fishing.

If the lake levels are right, the temps are right, you should have a great time anytime from mid-March til the end of April.

    Have a ball.

Trying to plan a trip down to Millwood with my Dad who will coming down from Iowa in the last week or two in March. Just asking for the basics, at this time are the fish on beds, pre spawn or both? Dipping jigs or slip floating...I am guessing that the water is clearer than Okie waters. Any tips or hints to help me gear up for the trip is greatly appreciated. I am really looking forward to this trip and hoping to put Dad on some good crappie. Also is there a place close to the lake to buy fishing licenses. Thanks for any help.

    Both

If your water is murkier than Millwood, I would assume you could walk on it. Average visibility on Millwood is about 8-10 inches in the main lake, and about 12 - 18 inches in the river. There are some places with better vis, but that's the norm.

Just check the base of each tree. They're not hard to find, there are literally 10's of thousands of cypress trees. Also in the main creeks where the grass and pads are starting to germinate can be good.

Wal Mart about 10 minutes from the lake, also Millwood State Park Marina on the lake both have fishing licenses. You can also order online from AGFC ( Ark. Game and Fish Commision)

    Tight Lines.
