    Default Hughes, AR

A fishin buddy has told me bout a place off of the Mississippi River down there that he has been too. Its straight across the river from Tunica. He didnt remember the name of the place. Ive asked around and thank its called Horseshoe lake. He said that they tore the catfish up. I was wondering if the crappie fishin was anygood there.

Horseshoe, Midway, and Whitehall are all close to Hughes, and all are Mississippi oxbows.

Horseshoe is not inside the levee it is West of the levee. Midway is about 5 miles from Hughes and Whitehall is about 5 miles south of Midway down the levee. You can fish Midway and Whitehall with MS or AR license

Horseshoe Lake has some nice crappie. I know of several 3lb plus came out last year. I talked to a friend yesterday and they're catching quite a few right now.

Catfishing is also very good on Horseshoe as well. I have a friend that has a small condo over there and we usually set jugs out at night and usually catch between 20-30, 10lb + catfish.

    Razorback,
How deep do you usually jugfish? Do you vary the depths or keeps them all bout the same? and what baits do you typically use.
