    Default Monticello this afternoon......

Got in a little early today and was able to get on the water and start fishing by 2:00. It was kinda slow on LM today. My buddy from Crossett had been fishing since 10:00 this morning and was able to limit out soon after I arrived, leaving me to play catchup. I fished till 5:00 and managed to get 11 crappie and one bass. They were running a little bigger today....my largest went 2 lbs, 2 oz and was caught on a jig hand tied and given to me by crappietyme (Jeff) from England, AR. He ties some really good lookin jigs. Most of the others were caught on B. Garland baby shads........My buddy had to try about 15 colors this morning before finding out what they were biting and it happened to be one of the few that I did not have. Luckily he felt sorry for me and threw a few into my boat. They weren't hitting the colors I had been catching them on lately for some reason. Lots of crappie were up off the bottom and hanging at 30-35'.

Sounds like a good afternoon of fishing and some nice size fish. It was slow for me at Chicot, only caught 8.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Jerry, that don't sound too bad for Chicot right now. I talked to two fishermen bringing their boat out of Connerly Bayou this afternoon around 4:30 and one of them had caught two and the other had nuthin and they were rigged up and sounded like they knew what they was doing. The water was very muddy. I worked in Lake Village this afternoon so I had to scout it out a bit.
