All I've heard is Peckerwood is best in low water. Also since it's a waterfowl rest area , closed to fishing till spring . It is a private pay to fish lake.

Anyone fished these waters? I'm interested on going to these soon but didn't know much about them, nor where a good place to start fishing them is either.
Do yall think they would be good in the colder weather as we have now or would it be better to wait till spring?
Thanks

I looked and I believe there is 1 boat ramp shown in the outdoor atlas. Does anyone have better luck on one end or the other, are there more than one boat ramps?
Just trying to come up with a game plan on where to start fishin when I go.
Thanks to all who provide information, I appreciate your time

Most of the fishin' I've done at Perckerwood has been during the post-spawn trolling the deeper water and has been pretty successful. I do plan to fish some pre-spawn this year and try to find 'em. I've always launched from Red Barn. Coming from hwy 63 you turn on hwy 86 just north of the lake, then follow the big curves around. Looks like the ramp is on Morgan road. There's signs marking the way to the boat ramp (they're on old coca-cola signs, I think). I think they charge by the person, and is something to the tune of $7.50 each. And you'd better bring some knee boots cause you usually have to back up pretty far into the water to get the boat off.
On an extra note, be sure to take it easy motoring out there. There's quite a few stumps just under the surface at normal pool, and lots of 'em have rebar sticking out of the top...
Thanks ceb,
My father-in-law tuned me in to the lake. He warned me bout the stumps.
he says he likes to fish it when the water is low, but he mainly bass fishes, so thats why I posted to see what the crappie were like over there.
Thanks again
