Lake Ouachita
Anyone heard of any fish being caught on Ouachita? Heading down that way next week thought i might try and catch some fish.

Not much going on at Twin Creeks/Denby area. The crappie are hugging the bottom of the channels and deep brush piles. Some folks say they are doing okay drift fishing over moss. The nearest moss I know of is at Mountain Harbour, north and west of the marina. I don't usually fish that far up the lake at this time of year.
At Twin Creeks/Denby, they are scattered and it is hard to get a fix on them where you can catch more than a couple at a time before you lose them. The water is very clear, so long poles and light line are in order, fer sur. Some good news is that there is little traffic right now.

Stripers are in the upper reaches of the lake, cruising in small pods anywhere from 18-40' of water. They are responding to large brood minnows or shad, if you have them. Troll with a 1/2 oz barrel sinker above a swivel w/ 2' of 20lb leader. we use No. 5 Octopus hooks and they do the job. We tie balloons blown up to the size of a small apple, about 18- 20 feet above the barrel sinker.
I'm not a dyed-in-the-wool striper fisherman, but when the specks are off the radar, well, you gotta do something to fill the freezer.
I'll be there Monday, early, launching out of Twin Creeks or Highway 27 Bridge area, looking for the specks. I'll be in the sweetwater 21' pontoon w/ maroon top. Come by and say "hello" if you see me. I likes meeting other crappie commers. <><
