    Default gold creek report12/19/08

its been pretty quiet here, with the bad weather and all,but fish seem to be picking up a bit.i have a buddy that fished yesterday and caught his limit.didnt see the fish but he does not keep small ones.same guy day before and a partner caught 25 keepers in the pool.carhart man was here sun, caught 7-8 decent fish, conditions were tough but you know he is good!the water is up 8in,looks good, ought to have4-5days fair to good fishing before water will start falling gradually.2 gates open at spillway.iwish they would shut it off here would be excellant.but i guess duck hunters are more important than crappie fisherman.thats what happenned here month ago.
went to cc last thur.got there1:30 fished till 8:30 pm,me and a buddy only caught 1 non keeper, enjoyed checking out the lake-its different and i had to get away.enjoyable trip.the funny thing is that same day the friend that im talking about at the pool here caught his limit her while i was gone,no 3lbers though!!oh well no regrets.thers always another day another fishing hole and thats why we love it.
i havent been out since cc but im going out this evening got a good feeling-will post later tonight if i do any good.have 3 guys out there right now.will report before i head out.happy fishing to everyone and merry christmas.

Thanks Dan. I have been wonderin what was goin on up there. Yes it has been quiet up there this year. Alot of people i am talkin too say thatthe lake still needs two or three years to recover from thedrawdown we had 2 years ago. Yeah there is still alot of fish to go around but its definitely been slower for me since then. Just wonderin what yall think? Oh yeah , how deep were the fish that have been caught lately? One more thing,I heard that this is what we can expect now on the winter lake level, gonna be kept 1 foot lower than normal pool? WHY?????? Didnt they just start this in the last year or two? Anyway HAPPY HOLIDAYS and save a few for seed.

yes barry it has been slower than usual for all the regulars this season,i believe it is from the lack of rain and then the water level brought down lower than the 1' low for wintertime level.winter threat of rain getting too full for lake prop owners and letting too much water out too fast floods grassy lake road is the reason for 1'low in the winter.of course this could be regulated better.no threat of big rains-should be able to keep lake up.when it was droope 1 month ago ther was no threat of big rain and the only gate open was going to bell slough for duck hunters.the 1' low has been in effect for more than 5 yrs.so its not really that but timing.projec raising grassy lake road should be done in the near future will practically eliminate the 1' low problem
last season was alot better than this, with more chances of rain coming jan and feb are typically real good in here.shad come in with the rains and current, and the fish follow them, less shad less fish.
the fish being caught las couple days 2-3 ft deep in6-7fow and5-6 ftdp in8-10fow.

Have you had any problem with ice there yet. I have seen the creek frozen over but not this early. This will affect the fish but not sure how? Hope to be up there this weekend.
