    Default Thankgiving day crappie (pics)

Went to the lake this morning to fish a while before the feast. They started out good then slowed down when the sun got high. I had 4 good ones by 8 oclock. My buddy Steve had 3 keepers. We fished a while longer with no luck, Steve moved on looking for fish and I moved off in another direction. He called me about 11 to see what I was doing, which was nothing and he told me to come over where he was. When I got there he caught a good one and I got another good one at the same time. We fished til 11:30 and didn't catch any more. I had to leave to go to Thanksgiving with the family. Steve had some good ones to weigh, so I weighed them and took pictures. At least I get to hold some 3 lbers when I weigh his fish. I weighed his 6 best, with the largest 3lb 8oz., 3lb 4oz.,3lb 3oz., 2lb 15oz., 2lb 14oz. 2lb. 13oz. He had 4 smaller crappie that we didn't weigh. We put the best six on a stringer for a picture, it was a handful to hold up. I ended up with 5 fish with 4 over 2lbs. The 2 biggest were 2lb. 5oz., good fish, but dwarfed by Steves.

Steve with a stringer of 6 HOGS.

    The 3 over 3 pounds.

    My crappie for the day.

My two best at 2lb. 5oz.

It's supposed to be cloudy and rainy tomorrow, I will try for my 3 lber in the morning.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Those crappie are full grown....must'uv been fun catching. Tomorrow might be a perfect day till the rain starts. I had planned on Lake Monticello in the morning but those pics have really got my head swimming and I don't know what direction my truck will go till I get there. BTW, the deep water bite is really picking up on Monticello but the size is running 10-12" avg.

Unbelieveable, they dont grow like that in western North Carolina.
If you ever start a guide service, PM me. I've got a 11 year old that would never recover from a stringer like that.

Jerry I went to Greers yesterday and caught 14 but after seeing these pictures I am ashamed to post a picture of mine. I am still going to come down to CC before Christmas. Maybe this will be the year that you and I get our 3 lber.

I have not ever seen so many quality fish in one trip. I had a trip almost 25 years ago where I did a night trip and took 20 fish that average about 2.25 lbs and had some monster filets. The two of you had to have had one of the happiest Thanksgivings to ever be had. This is what it all about guys. It's like the two of you fell into the holy grail of fishing. Steve, Congrats on some incredible fish! The smile on your face tells it all! Best of the Holiday to both of you and thanks so much for sharing. You have given us all something to dream about as we close our eyes tonight.
