Went to the river/harbor today and caught about 15 crappie but only 7 keepers. fished from 8 til noon. i was fishing 5-7 foot deep in 9 to 13 foot of water. Caught one really nice one that was 2 ounces shy of 2 pounds but it was pretty thin. the water temp was 73 degrees. i was using minows and the fish were biting light and holding tight to structure. i think i could have caught more if i would have got there early but the first bait shop i went to was closed so i had to go all the way across town to get bait. fishing should only get better there in the coming weeks and i will probably have to make another trip in a week or two. sorry i couldn't take a picture because my camera battery was dead.

A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Glad you got a chance to get on the water. I'd say that was pretty good findin' a 2lber out there this time of year. Hopefully the river will get settled back down soon. Keep us updated...
L.A. there are a lot of pylons to fish that range from 2 ft to 18 ft deep that stick out of the water and are easy to spot. it would be easy for someone unfamilair with the area to catch a few. i would say the best place to put in is at regional park but there are several other places to put in. also expect to catch several green carp because there is a healthy supply of them. the game wardens are also out alot so make sure you are up to date on everything, have your lifejackets etc, and most importantly don't keep a green carp under 15" because i have seen many people pay a fine for that. if you decide to go i would take a left at the regional ramp and go down past the docks and fish those pylons. good luck
