    Default Greers Ferry Sunday 10/12

I almost did not go yesterday because when I left the house,

    the sky was totally clear
the wind was out of the east
the barometer was high and steady.

On my way to the lake, I looked up and and HOLY COW there are clouds everywhere! cool

I fished the Middle Fork of the Little Red arm of the lake.

Started around noon and fished til dark.

Trolling Bandit 300's 14-16 feet deep.

I experimented with speed more on this trip and was surprised to catch some going faster than I usually do. Usually I run my trolling motor on 2, but I caught fish even up to all the way on 5.

Ended up with 6 crappie and 4 Kentuckys

Threw back a nice largemouth that did not quite make 15".

I am glad that I did decide to go and had a decent time.

Glad you decided to go...sounds like your numbers were just about like mine. I put in at Choctaw.

    SS,

I went to Choctaw on Friday from 3:30pm til 6:30.

Spent most of my time in the South Fork arm of the Little Red.

Similar results. 5 fish in three hours trolling the Bandits.

The last 30 minutes I fished from the marina west up the Choctaw Creek arm.

That looks like a nice area. Not as deep but I still marked a lot of shad.

I plan on going back and working the Choctaw Creek arm some more soon.

    Will post reports.

Where do you have the best results in that area?

Can't tell you it's a secret.........just kidding.....From Choctaw instead of turning and going up the river arm go on past it between the two narrow points. Go on about a 1/4 mile and start looking to the right for a buoy close to the bank that washed in during the high water. Out from it about a 150 yards ( all distances approximate) you'll find the river channel. Work up and down several hundred yards each side of the buoy staying on the channel. You should mark a ton of fish in the submerged trees along the channel. I caught 13 there Friday and 6 yesterday. Another place I've been wanting to try cranking but haven't yet is along the edge of the tree's around sugar loaf Island. Hope this helps. Good luck and let me know how you do.
