Nimrod Crappie pictures/2 lber with shoulders

I kept a limit today but gave an old couple half and kept a good mess. Caught a good honest 2+ lber. Man it was'nt quite 16'' but it had some shoulders.:D It had a mouth big enought to put a 20 oz water bottle in. If the wind ever dies down it will be great.
I saw a biologist netting Crappie for a survey . He said there was alot of smaller Crappie but few biggun's. Also that our hatch was'nt as good as expected with all the high water. Thought our fishing should be bettter for the next 2 to 3 years as the hand sized ones grow. I hope he is right on the biggun's in the future.
Asked him about the small size of the Black Crappie here compared to White. His take was small also and commented on the water suited Whites being murky. Also the Blacks have a slower growth rate. Something else he said that Lake Dardanelle Crappie ratios seem to be shifting from Whites to Blacks.

I didn't get out today. Deer hunted early and late, missed a 5 point this am and a huge 8-pointer on another stand this evening. He was trailing four does that came by 20 minutes earlier. Maybe next time.

I will get back on the water day after tomorrow.
