Report from Brewer Lake
After my limited success yesterday on Greers Ferry,
I decided to give crankin a try on Brewer Lake, just north of Plumerville.
My son, who is turning 21 tomorrow, went with me.
Brewer is like a mini COE lake. I think it is around 1100 acres.
It has lots of 30-40 ft water. It also has a decent population of crappie.
The lake level is currently fairly high with a lot of flooded brush on the north side.
The water temp was 80 degrees.
We trolled different colored Bandit 300's from 5-18 ft deep.
We tried 8-40 FOW.
We tried speeds from 1.5 to 4.5 mph.
No crappie were caught.
We landed about 10 small black bass. Most were Kentuckys.
I wish we could have found the crappie, BUT it don't get much better than
a day on the water catching some fish with my boy.
:D

Hey TMD, I've fished Brewer quite a bit. The crappie there seem to be real finicky and it can be hit or miss. Right now I would be minnow and jig fishing over the brush piles and there is plenty of those or I'd be dragging cranks on the east end sorta out from the launch on that end or zig zag up and down the middle on the west end from the boat launch down. You might also try a roadrunner over the grass on the N. bank at the far west end. There are some real slabs in that lake if you can get on them...Good luck

You have your priorities in order, bud. The fish will turn on when the water temp gets nearer to 65 o .
Never fished Brewer but if I lived closer I'd wear it out.
