we went out today geared up for big fish. The crappie have been regrettably slow. So, you know we have to go after something to tug on the line. We took two boats, two guides in each boat (me and Jerry and Greg and Randy, striper guides from Ouachita) and five other friends. The nine of us all limited out (27 some up to 15-pounds) on stripers in less than an hour. We also boated three real nice largemouth.

Looks like you got some serious fish slime on that new boat. Don't let it start thinking it's a striper boat.....

Wow, I spent the day pre-registering a 3rd grader at school. You win.

Stripers don't taste quite as good as crappie but they sure pull good - especially from 50 to 60-feet deep! This morning, my crew of three limited out in about an hour. My 10-year-old, Owen, came on the trip to be my Deck Hand so we hung around another 20-minutes or so and caught his limit too.
Thanks to Greg Willingham - Fishing Lake Ouachita - we're lined up with live shad so if anyone wants a load of stripers Darryl or I can fix you up!

Very nice.. I've always thought that white bass were the hardest fighting fresh water fish that i've ever caught. Where would you rank stripers? Just curious..

These stripers are hitting hard and going straight down. I'm using medium/heavy Ugly Stik Bigwater rods and they'll double them over. One of the boys I had yesterday didn't think he was going to be able to bring one of the bigger ones up by himself but he finally did. About the time they start to give in and get close to the top they'll see the boat and take off again. They're a lot of fun and a lot of folks like eating them. We keep them in icewater so they are still alive and fresh when we clean them and we trim out the red meat.
