Default Greers Ferry with my Dad 7-28-08

My dad came down for a visit from Kansasand wanted to see Greer's Ferry. He loves to fish and because of his health he's gotten to do very little the last several years. We hit the water at 6:30 and were finished at 11:00 because of the heat. He had a great time and thought the lake was beautiful. He even managed managed to catch a few Arkansas slabs while trolling bandits. They ran from 11 inches to almost 16 inches. I really enjoyed fishing with him and was thrilled he got to catch some July crappie.

...I have not done so well over here on Ouachita. I troll bandit 300s @ 1.5 mph about four boat lengths behind the boat, at night. Are you weightin' 'em ddown to get deeper? I'm sure not doin' somethin' right here of late.

    Any help appreciated fer sur.

Thank's guys......I was in between Choctaw and sugarloaf island....no I didn't weight the bandits but probably had out about 100'-125' feet of line and caught them out from standing timber in about 70' of water. I don't have a speedometer or gps but I'm guessing my speed runs between 1.5-2 mph.

It's great when you can get out with your dad. Good catch. Water level high there?

It is always great to get out with my Dad like that and return just a little bit of what he gave me to remember. I bet you father was impressed with those nice fish.

    Pomoxist:

The current lake level as of 1:00pm is 462.98 and falling slowly. To give you an idea of the issue, the level at which the spillway crests is 454.

It's gonna be a while before Greer's gets back to normal.
