Default Moore's bayou specks 7-15 (Pics)

Went to Morgan Point this morning, but it was dropping fast. I had seen it was falling slow yesterday so I took a vac. day to fish. Only caught one white crappie, after getting home I look at the river guage and it fell 4.5 ft since 9 am yesterday. It dropped one foot while I was there. I gave up at 10:30 and loaded up and went to Moore's bayou. I got to my fishing hole about 11:30, and started catching crappie right away. I caught 26 total and kept 17, all were black crappie. They weren't huge crappie, the biggest was 13 in., but a good mess of fish. Had a good time, have been busy on weekends canning and putting up veggies, so just had to take a v day to get out on the lake.

    Todays catch.

If the river falls 1.5 more feet it will be out of Morgan Point, but I guess that depends on the rainfall upstream.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Caught them in 10 to 12 ft. of water, the channel of Moore's bayou, but they would only hit a falling jig. I had 10 feet of line, and would flip it toward structure and let it fall back toward the boat. Just had to watch the line for a twitch or going slack and set the hook. They wouldn't hit just a still jig. I was using a red head jig with a blue and chartruese tube, injected with nibbles.

Ray, Moore's bayou is just off the Arkansas river at Pendleton. You can put in the river and go down to the mouth of Moore's and go up the bayou, but I have been driving over the bridge and turning on 169 going toward Ark. post national memorial and putting in at the ramp at Moore's bayou rec. park. Then go downstream to where it opens up to the lake area. Here's a link to a map.

    Hey Jerry,
Nice catch. How bad is the aquatic vegetation in the bayou?
