Has anyone ever camped at Bear Creek? Where do you pay? Thinking about going this weekend. Thanks!

I believe you pay at the Ranger's office, on the left side of the road as you go to the lake. you might give them a call before you go just to make sure (870) 295-5278. I don't think they have water or electricity. The state is scheduled to improve the camping facilities and build several cabins there in the future. Bream really should be biting this weekend!

The cabin thing is true...However, no one knows exactly how long it will take. The state is to take control of the park from the Forest Service and develop campgrounds, cabins, a bait shop, etc. The St. Francis forest is the smallest national forest in the country and the stepchild of the Ozark Nat'l Forest administration. The St. Francis never has enough money to do too much and is always understaffed. At this time, only one technician is available--the others are either off on business or fighting fires somewhere else. The situation is a real shame because along with excellent fishing, Bear Creek and Storm Creek are two of the most beautiful small lakes in Arkansas.
