    Default Geers Ferry

Where is Greers Ferry Marina? I saw on channel 4 news where the storm had hit Greers Ferry Marin and had done a lot of damage. I saw where it hit between Hill Creek and Frontier Canyon, Looked like it just went right down the road.

The only marina that it could have gotten would be Lacy's. There is no such thing as Greers Ferry Marina. I know that Heber Springs Marina is OK, a good friend of mine ownes it.

    Here is the story.

Submberged Boats, Overturned Docks at Greers Ferry
Reported by: Mallory Hardin, KARK 4 News
    Monday, May 5, 2008 @09:01pm CST

A popular vacation spot in Arkansas was severely hit during Friday’s storm. At Greers Ferry Lake, lake houses are destroyed, and boats are upside down floating throughout the lake.

"This is devastating for the community. The lake is in turmoil and Memorial Day is coming up. But what's really sad is what it's doing for lake and homeowners here," John Ison, owner of Greers Ferry Lake Marina said.

Ison says he doesn't even know where they can start, cleaning up the mess.

"You’ve got about 20 docks peeled onto the shoreline right here and there are probably about 30 boats," Ison said.

But property loss and damage is only half the problem. Many of the boats under water are leaking hazardous chemicals into the lake.

"You've got gasoline out here on all these boats, motor oil; you've got a lot of petroleum products being leaked into the lake,” Ison said.

It not only hurts the environment, "It's dangerous for swimmers, bathers, boaters...and i don't see anyone out here doing anything about this," Ison said.

That's not good going into Memorial Day weekend. Ison says parts of the lake are free of debris and boaters should be ok. But for the parts that were hit, it's going to be a long recovery, because he says there's no telling how many boats could be submerged under the lake right now.

Never heard of it, and I have benn on that lake 1,000 times. He has to be talking about Lacys Marina at the Narrows. That is where the tornado came through. Lacy's in in Greers Ferry, but not called Greers Ferry Marina.

I think that the report is wrong.
