Default Question for Creekslick and Krappie KG

    Creekslick and Krappie KG,

You guys have obviously got a lot more experience with crankin for crappies, than I do. The proof is in the pictures.

Would y'all mind telling us about how fast and how deep were you guys pulling your crankbaits at Greers Ferry when y'all caught that last bunch o' crappies?

I was up there Saturday, with limited success, and I'm wondering if maybe my 2 mph max speed (my outboard was messed up) was keeping me from catching more fish?

I would really like to get this method at least sort of figured out before it gets too cold.

    Thanks alot guys.

    Tommy

I am running between 1.5 and 2 mph with 8# line. I let out 100' of line that run the Bandit 300 about 13 or 14 deep.

All that I have been using is my trolling motor, I tried different speeds until I found what worked best around 1.5 to 2. I have to give Creekslick credit for giving me pointers on what was working for him. I try to stay in about 35 feet of water.

    Default Thanks guys!

    Thanks guys!

I know that the main reason I did not do better on Saturday was ME, not the fish.

I had it in my head that faster was better for some reason.

Next time on Greers I will slow down a little. And also trust my instinct on how I interpret the graph. I saw that most of the shad were 15 ft and below.
I knew I should have been running my lures just above them. But I kept trying all different depths because of my lack of confidence and my limited success.

I have to say that you two guys are first class gentlemen.

That is exactly what is so awesome about this site.

Folks who are willing to freely share their secrets of success with others.

If I can ever be of any help to y'all, just holler.

When I get my confidence built up, I will try some other places within a reasonable distance of Conway that looks promising and post reports.

    Thanks again,

    Tommy from Conway
