Default Saline River Near Benton, AR

Has anyone ever fished the Saline River, near Benton, for Crappie? It looks like it would be a great place to fish.

I have relative's that live at Poyen and fish the Saline and seem to do pretty good.

    Default Saline

Only fished the Saline out of Tollette a short way from where it enters Millwood. Did very well on Crappie and White Bass.

YOU COULD BE TALKING ABOUT A DIFFERENT RIVER COMPLETELY. ONE IS A TRIBUTARY OF THE LITTLE RIVER THAT HELPS FORM MILLWOOD. THE OTHER FEEDS THE OUACHITA RIVER I THINK.

Could be the same one, but I know it runs close to Benton, AR. If you go to Google Earth, search on saline river, ar, it will take you right to it. See if it is the same one.

Found directions on the Ark Game and Fish web site.

    3 - Saline River Access on I-30
From Sunset Lake Dock (see above), continue on Henry St. one-half mile to the river access.

4 - Saline River Access on Arkansas
Highway 5 From I-30 in Benton, take the Highway 5 Exit (Exit 117). Turn onto Highway 5 north for about 2 miles and turn left on Lyledale Rd. at the brown access sign leading straight into the park.

I have fished the saline river about 20 miles downstream from benton. I usually put in at my deer lease. Have done fairly well in the past with roadrunners catching green carp and crappie. I usually have the best luck in the late summer to early fall.

No way! There aren't any fish at all in Saline River!

I can promise one thing though, if you try it in a boat any bigger than a 16' with a 25hp, you will have a miserable trip.
