Looks like good hunting. I have seen what mushrooms you can and cannot eat, but I would pick the wrong ones with my luck. So I get mine out of the can or jar. Wife don't care for them but I like them cooked in dishes.

WOW!!! THose are huge, a guy at work "hunts" them in the area, but Usually don't find a lot of them around here. Goes up to the Ozarks mostly.
You Can Make a Difference!
I visit S/ARk yearly no morels around there, figured they'd be in the North. Here N/WI they don't start til around end of May - Our ice on the lakes just went out a few days ago!
I have found some here in west Tennesse here last weekend. I was wandering what was the best way to cook them?
Here's what I do and it's the best:
First, slice mushrooms in half and soak (submerge)overnight in salt water in the fridge to get the bugs out.
Rinse
crush one package saltine crackers (very fine)
add 1 cup flour and 1/2 tbls pepper in big zip lock bag or bowl
In another bowl, BEAT with wire wisk 2 eggs, 1/4 cup water and a dash of salt.
Dip mushrooms in egg mix and then coat them in cracker/flour mixture. Fry in a skillet (1/4 inch grease)using BUTTER FLAVOR CRISCO till golden brown.
Dip in ranch dressing.
When grease gets brown and crappy, dump it out and start over or you'll get soggy breading and they won't be crispy.
I use this for mushrooms, fish, mozzerela sticks, country fried steak EVERYTHING!
Enjoy!

Usually found in moist shady places. Apple and peach orchards are a prime area to look. I used to prune an apple orchard every year and we would pick them between the rows and under the trees.
If you're too busy to go fishing, you're too busy!
the ones I used to find didn't look like those but everyone liked them. Not too tasty but they packed a wallop.
I am like you Bullsprig, the ones we find over here in the mississippi delta usually came out of a cowpie! we would wash em and boil em and drink the tea! whooo, they sure would make you see some funny stuff, especially laid out on the side of the mississippi river levee listening to our coon hounds. Man there was no way we could have gotten to those dogs when they treed even if we wanted to. Its all good cause most of the time they weren't too bad about getting treed. High powered hounds LOL. Really high powered Shrooms! HAHA Those were the good ole days
Don't rip er mouth,
Budro:
A buddy of mine got messed up on those things one time. We learned a drunk and somebody on those things do not have a good time together. When it came time for me to pass out, he wanted me to stay up to see if he was really seeing what he thought he was seeing. We finally got into a fist fight and got kicked out of the third buddies house. But, I do agree, those were the days and I thank God I lived through them and don't have to do them again.
