    Default Bear Creek crappie

Went bass fishing at Bear Creek Sat. Didn't do too badly, but crappie fishing would've been better. A friend caught 10 slabs fishing for bream with crickets. They were about 3 ft. off the bank in tops. He limited out on bream.

The Bear is on boys, if you like to catch big gills its time! It will last for about 3 or 4 weeks.

    Hey maggiesmaster,
This may be a dumb question, but I have looked in the AG&F books for limits of bream and cant find one. What is the legal limit for bream/ bluegill?

50 for bream--30 for crappie. Big bream are starting to bed, and BC should be good for them through May. You can catch them all summer fishing shallow, but later months usually give smaller fish. For some reason, it's a live bait lake--crickets usually do much better than jigs. Better be up on your license, etc., because you'll prob. be checked.

If you go to Bear Creek on the weekend, YOU WILL BE CHECKED! If you have a motor over 9.9hp, leave the gas tank at home. You have to disable any moter over a 9.9hp.

Make sure you trolling motor battery is charged, because I got in a big mess down there this last weekend. Mine went dead, and my moter is 20hp. You can't even use your moter to get the boat on the trailer. If you have a moter than can be started or if you start it, and it's over 9.9hp then you will have yourself a $200 ticket.

I just can't help but imagine you trying to load that boat up in the wind with nothin' but a paddle...

I'd bet that was some pretty good entertainment...

    True story:

Several (many) years ago I was fishing Horseshoe. Went during the middle of the week and had the lake almost to myself. Spotted an empty boat pretty close to where I was fishing, but it looked to be slowly moving. Went over, and saw a guy wearing a life jacket in the water swimming and pulling the boat...he didn't bring a paddle, ran out of gas and his trolling motor battery had died!
