Hey Everyone,
Kinda new here, been reading alot and learning alot. I was wondering anyone fish Lake Poinsett Here in NEA much? I have been only once or twice and hear they have good crappie population, just not had much luck. Any tips tactics I should try?
Also, any other good crappie lakes in around Jonesboro?

A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

I'm not sure about Poinsett but mallard lake between manila and blytheville is starting to pick up. If you come in from hwy 18 and launch on the south end be sure and run the boat on the west side. The east side is pretty stumpy.
welcome to the forum.I live in walnut ridge I usually fish the oxbows on black river but thats messed up with the high water.there's lake charles at powhaton and ashbaugh at delaplaine
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work..

thanks, ringo

I have been there (Mallard lake) only once back in the winter. What depths are you seeing the most action? I know the lake is fairly shallow.......
Is there a good place to buy minnows over that way?

I was catching them around 3 or 4 feet. I was just using a jig mainly blue and white.
Thanks cardinalfan, I appreciate the info.

Fished Poinsett several times. Good crappie water. Hint, state campground bay, near mouth, on cottage side, produces well. Fish around "markers" in water. Nice sized fish. I only fly fish for them. Also a good gil lake. You can tell where they seem to bed if you see "locals" from shore checking "certain" areas early. The bay's early seem to produce b4 going to the end in the timber areas.
