    Default Chicot trip <sigh>

Well, I headed down to Chicot yesterday to try my luck. As usual, my luck wasn't so good. I fished about 2 hours yesterday, but one in the boat, one small one I threw back, three more that got off, a white bass and 5 gar. Wind was blowing somewhere around 356 mph. Today, I hit the water about 6:30 and ended up catching one little crappie and two yellow bass. Wind top speed today was somewhere around 589.3 mph. I finally quit fishing around 11:00. Still better than work, but not by much....

The fish that I did catch and hang yesterday were in 1' of water and blacker than an ace of spades.

    Alan,
which end did you fish, state park(north) or down on south end? usually on that north end, you can get out of the wind in the cypress trees on inside of the lake, & they like to get in there to spawn. I would like to know how high the water is right now. sorry about the slow fishing. it can only get better.

I fished up in the north end and concentrated primarily on Connerly. Yesterday around 9 I headed out Connerly into the lake and when under the bridge to the north end and immediately went east to that bank. I caught one yellow bass and that was it.

Hey bobber you got almost calm winds down there its been around 750 miles an hour around here lol. Its pretty bad when using 6lb line and an 1/8 once jig and the jig almost comes out of the water like a kite. But that still don't stop me from trying lol.

I know what you mean. It is amazing how much wind a 12' jigpole can catch. When the winds were calm, I would fish in front of the boat. A big gust would come up and I would be fishing off the side of the boat. I actually thought fishing up in Connerly wouldn't be too bad and could get shielded from the wind. Me and 75-100 boats had the same thought
